Although we are now located in Virginia, ECOLA was established in the beautiful Pacific
Northwest, named after an Oregon State Park, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. We
started breeding and showing dogs in the early 1970s, and our first dogs were Standard
Poodles. We have always had a small breeding program, breeding only when we wanted
something for ourselves to show. The years of grooming these magnificent coats took
its toll on my hands and it was necessary to go to a breed which required less grooming.
After great consideration, we chose the Chinese Crested. We have found it to be a
delightful dog to live with, and SO much easier to groom! However, my love for poodles
is strong, and I now have added toy poodles to our family. Hopefully this tiny version
will not be too much for my hands to handle grooming!
